Position Title: Registered Dietitian 1.0 FTE Permanent
PART/Program: Lanark Renfrew Health & Community Services
Site/Location: North Lanark Community Health Centre

Position Description

The Dietitian provides a wide range of nutrition services across the age continuum for the Centre including: working with individuals and groups in order to improve their nutritional well being; preventing and treating nutrition-related disorders by nutritional means; increasing access to food; and enhancing personal control of health.  The dietitian works  with clients experiencing chronic illness with an emphasis on individuals with diabetes.  The Dietitian works in collaboration with staff in the development and facilitation of centre and community programs to address the broader issues of food and food security within the catchment area.     

The North Lanark Community Health Centre, a part of Lanark Renfrew Health & Community Services, is a fully accredited health centre providing primary health care, health promotion services and illness prevention services.  LRHCS is a HOOPP employer.  We offer a benefits package and a competitive salary.

Requirements for this position include:  

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Food and Nutrition from a recognized university
  • Completion of a Dietitians of Canada accredited Dietetic Internship or equivalent approved experience
  • Registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario
  • Minimum two years of experience in community nutrition and clinical counseling, or other relevant experience
  • Understanding of issues that place individuals at risk for poor health outcomes, rural health needs and food security
  • Current  Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) an asset

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge and proficiency in nutrition care
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Understanding of issues that place individuals at risk for poor health outcomes, rural health needs and food security
  • Excellent communication skills, both written  and verbal
  • Strong group facilitation skills
  • Use of car and valid driver’s license
  • Proficient computer skills

Reporting Relationship:

  • The Dietitian reports directly to the Director of Health Services.

Conditions of Employment:

Hours of work will be developed in collaboration with the successful candidate to ensure a healthy work-life balance.  A schedule of work will be based on the organization’s hours of operation and program requirements and may include some evenings.
An offer of employment will be conditional upon the candidate completing a criminal reference check.
