This webinar will provide an overview of important and relevant information for clinicians related to Binge Eating Disorder (BED). The presentation will first review the new DSM 5 diagnostic criteria for BED, and contrast these criteria with those for Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa. The most recent epidemiologic findings for BED will be presented, including the prevalence of comorbidities. There will be an examination of our current understanding of the bio-psychosocial factors that contribute to the etiology of BED, specifically focusing on teasing out the genetic vs. environmental factors that confer risk for the disorder. Finally, the presentation will review in detail the most up to date evidence based psychosocial and pharmacologic treatments for BED.
