Ingenuity and Environmental Sustainability, A Sustainability Network Breakfast Forum with Thomas Homer-Dixon

With a special introduction by Dr. David Bell of the York Centre for Applied Sustainability

7:30 - 9:00 a.m.

Dr. Homer Dixon will discuss the basics of his ingenuity theory and how this theory can give us some insights into the relationship between our world's rising complexity and the problem of environmental sustainability. Designing and delivering sustainable technologies and institutions involves supplying a great deal of ingenuity in the near term, with the hope that less ingenuity will have to be supplied in the long-term. But the political, economic, and social obstacles to such innovations are often insurmountable.

The forum will be held at the downtown-Toronto YMCA, 20 Grosvenor Street (which is just northwest of College and Yonge). Visit http://www.sustain.web.net/events/index.html for more information.

If you want to attend, please register by January 20 by providing your name and affiliation (if any) to Shehrina at info@sustain.web.ca. A registration fee of $10 will be collected at the door. A continental breakfast will be provided.
