About The Lung Association:
Breathing. It’s what unites us and it’s what keeps us pushing ahead, whether it’s searching for cures to lung diseases, helping people to quit smoking and ensuring that children never start, or fighting for clean air.
The Lung Association was originally founded to provide care for tuberculosis patients. Over the years, we’ve evolved to meet the changing needs of Canadians, expanding our focus to asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, lung cancer and other forms of lung disease.
Today, The Lung Association is the leading organization working to promote lung health and prevent and manage lung disease. We do this by funding vital research, pushing for improved treatments and better policies, and helping patients manage their health.
We are helping all Canadians breathe.

The Youth Advocacy Training Institute (YATI) is a program of The Lung Association, funded by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care through the Smoke-Free Ontario Strategy. YATI equips youth, young adults, and adults working with young people with the knowledge and skills to prevent and reduce tobacco use, promote health, and advocate for positive change in their communities through youth engagement. YATI does this through training programs and partnership projects that support the Government’s goal of reaching the lowest smoking rate in Canada.

Reporting to the Provincial Manager of Youth Advocacy Training Institute (YATI) & Youth Engagement, and working closely with another Community Education Specialist (CES) and other members of the YATI team, the Community Education Specialist researches and develops curricula or other smoking prevention and cessation programming as assigned, and participates in the planning, delivery and evaluation of YATI programming and training sessions held throughout Ontario. This role also requires leadership and initiation of partnership projects that further the work that YATI does in reaching various populations to support tobacco control efforts.
