Job Description

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develops, implements and evaluates divisional programs and projects
  • Identifies quality improvement processes, methods, systems and analysis, using a best practices approach and evidence informed decision making
  • Develops and implements quality assurance processes to monitor and support programs to achieve and maintain standards and to comply with legislative mandates
  • Conducts current state assessments, environmental scans, literature reviews and documents business processes and work flows for the purpose of business process redesign and program evaluations
  • Plans and coordinates projects (e.g. requirements gathering, gap-fit assessment, implementation of appropriate technology, return on investment analyses, budget monitoring)
  • Develops and implements communication strategies to inform stakeholders (e.g., performance measures, quality improvement initiatives, best practices and legislative changes)
  • Creates and maintains resource information for stakeholders
  • Represents the directorate or program on various committees
  • Provides expert advice on staff training, professional development and policy development
  • Drafts and revises related program plans, policies and procedures
  • Develops and facilitates in-service training, staff orientation and staff development programs
  • Attends workshops, conferences, seminars, etc.

Key Qualifications:

Your application must describe your qualifications as they relate to:

  • A Master's degree in a related field (e.g., Quality Improvement, Health/Nursing Informatics, Health Sciences, Nursing, Health Administration, etc.) or an equivalent combination of a baccalaureate degree and extensive experience relevant to the primary duties of the position.
  • Experience supporting program performance management including designing, implementing and monitoring quality improvement projects and/or evaluations.
  • Experience documenting business processes and workflows for the purpose of improving business process design.
  • Experience developing program plans and policies, procedures and/or guidelines within tight deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Experience managing concurrent projects utilizing excellent organizational, planning, project management skills.
  • Experience in the development, planning and implementation of training and education sessions.
  • You must also have:

Knowledge of Communicable Disease Control and related legislation.

  • Knowledge of the College of Nurses of Ontario Compendium of Standards and their relevance to public health practice.
  • Knowledge of various federal, provincial and municipal legislation as they relate to public health standards and requirements.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent consultation, facilitation, team building and conflict management skills as they apply to multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with little supervision.
  • Ability to build relationships with stakeholders and to proactively contribute to joint initiatives.
  • Ability to work with quality improvement and performance management frameworks, planning processes, change management, risk management, continuous quality and process improvement practices and evaluations.
  • Ability to lead and motivate others to excel in an environment that fosters innovative approaches to problem resolution.
  • Ability to facilitate and lead project teams and activities and participate as an effective team member utilizing effective communication, human relations, facilitation and persuasion skills.
