KFL&A Public Health is a local public health agency with over 200 staff and 150 volunteers who deliver public health programs and services to the people of the KFL&A area. The Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention Division has an immediate opening for a Mental Health Promotion Specialist, with the Substance Misuse and Injury Prevention team.

The Mental Health Promotion Specialist provides expertise, direction and leadership in the planning, implementation and evaluation of mental health promotion (MHP) programs and services that aim to strengthen population mental health.  The Specialist applies knowledge of health promotion theories and strategies to MHP programming, policies and services in accordance with the Ontario Standards for Public Health Programs and Services. The Specialist initiates and mobilizes effective linkages inter-divisionally, and at the local, regional and provincial levels, to advance the agency’s mental health promotion framework.    

The successful candidate will have a Master’s Degree from an accredited University in Social Work, Psychology or related Master’s degree such as Nursing, Health Sciences, Public Health, Health Promotion, Health Education with a specialization in mental health. Additional certification in Mental Health is an asset.  Registration with appropriate college, if applicable, is required.  Two years’ experience in the development and implementation of mental health outreach, health promotion and/or prevention programming is required.  Previous experience working in a community health or public health setting is an asset.
