Currents and Undercurrents: Traversing the Paths of Mental Health

9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

United Steelworkers Hall, 22 Cecil Street

A forum on bridging policy, research and practice in cross-cultural mental health, organized by Hong Fook Mental Health Association

The purpose of this forum is to bring together different stakeholders --service providers, researchers, funders and policy makers--to discuss the challenges and opportunities in integrating research and practice in promoting immigrant women's mental health and in providing mental health services for immigrant communities. Through sharing and discussion, we hope to develop mutual strategies to enhance the capacity for the integration of research and practice in our services for immigrant communities as well as to provide opportunities for alliance building and future collaboration.

Speakers and presenters include administrators, clinicians, researchers, educators, funders and community service providers. Topics of panel discussions include findings of research on mental health among East and Southeast Asian immigrant/refugee women in Ontario, critical issues in methods and measurements in cross-cultural research, re-conceptualization of holistic mental health, and funding practice (leadership and strategies in bridging the worlds of research, policy and practice).

Registration deadline is November 5, 2003. Please contact Ms. May Ho via email at to register.
