Association of Ontario Health Centres (AOHC): Four Positions

AOHC (http://www.aohc.org) is the provincial organization of community

health centres, community health access centres for Aboriginal people, and community-governed health service organizations. AOHC speaks as health-care experts who work in the front-line with and for health-care consumers. Its member centres throughout Ontario support tens of thousands of Ontarians directly through community-based primary health care, health promotion and illness prevention services.

a) Researcher/Information Specialist (Part-time Contract position with

benefits)

This part-time position will provide research support to AOHC centre

development projects, with a focus on clinical and health promotion best practices research and provide archival services for the Best Practices and Getting Ready for Building Healthier Organizations projects.

Qualifications:

  • 1 to 3 years experience as a researcher and information specialist.
  • Post secondary education in information sciences and or health sciences research.
  • Demonstrated strong user-level familiarity with various computer operating systems, network, communication and application software.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Strong analysis and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Bilingualism an asset.

b) Executive Support Consultant (.6 FTE position)

The Executive Support Consultant will provide services to assist senior

management and boards with day-to-day problems, planning, and development issues via group and centre-focused consultation. S/he will be an experienced person with whom senior managers and boards can discuss difficult issues in a confidential and consulting relationship.

Qualifications:

  • 10 years experience in the health sector.
  • Masters level in applied social science field or business, or equivalent experience.
  • A broad understanding of operational and organizational issues faced by health centres.
  • Wide knowledge of health sector reform.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Experience working as a consultant in the area of organizational health and bilingualism would be assets.

c) Coordinator of Health Centre Development

(Secondment, maternity leave, approximately 6 months)

Responsible for the overall development and coordination of AOHC Centre

Development Projects, e.g., improve the quality of programming offered at member centres and prepare the sector for shifts in health care. S/he works with staff and volunteers at member centres and at other related groups to raise the quality of programming offered across the sector.

Qualifications:

  • Three years programing /or administrative experience in the health-care field and /or with community and volunteers groups.
  • Post secondary education in health or social sciences.
  • Adult education and/or group facilitation skills are required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Strong analysis and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated strong user-level familiarity with various computer operating systems, network, communication and application software.
  • Bilingualism an asset.

d) Program Evaluation System Coordinator

(Full time Term Contract Position with benefits)

This position will coordinate a computerized program evaluation system to track and record information on each encounter at health centres. S/he will actively support the implementation of this program evaluation system, assist CHCs with evaluation system questions, issues and concerns, and support the Information Systems Coordinating Committee in all aspects of the evaluation system.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum four years evaluation systems experience in a computerized

environment.

  • Masters level in an applied social science field with an emphasis on

statistics and applied research.

  • A working knowledge of SPSS or other comparable software.
  • A wide knowledge of evaluation protocols and automated platforms.
  • Experience in Information Technology, MIS planning skills, and experience in developing training strategies in a decentralized environment.
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Project management skills including the use of appropriate project

tracking tools.

  • Hands-on training experience related to evaluation systems.
  • Able to work with minimum supervision.
