Waterloo Region Community Health Department

"Building healthy and supportive communities by promoting and protecting health and preventing disease "

This web site describes the programs and services offered by the Waterloo Region Community Health Department. It highlights some health issues for the Waterloo Region and provides a few links to some other public health information sites. A very innovative, creative web-site with great graphics, links to extensive descriptions and contacts in programs and services. Unlike many public health units web-sites, this one has a list of all staff email addresses and what program they are in, with "mail-to" links in each program to email the appropriate staff person. A great feature is the PARTNERS area

http://192.237.29.249/partners.htm

With descriptions of community based programs [and contacts] including:

The AIDS Committee of Cambridge, Kitchener, Waterloo and Area (ACCKWA)

The Good Food Box

Nutrition for Learning

Health Helpers

Community Nutrition Worker Project

Healthy Communities

Prenatal Nutrition Program

Peer Health Workers

The newest addition to the site (Feb 11) is a Public Advisory Notice "Community Health Department Alerts Region to Outbreak of Flu-Like Illness" which will be of interest to many families.
