Theory in a Nutshell: A Guide to Health Promotion Theory

Don Nutbeam is Professor of Public Health at the University of Sydney {Australia]. He is also author of the WHO Glossary of health promotion words. Elizabeth Harris is the Deputy Director of the Centre for Equity Training, Research and Evaluation based at Liverpool Hospital Sydney.

Provides an overview of several of the most influential theories and models which are used to guide current health promotion practice. Readers are given an explanation of the main elements of each theory, followed by a commentary outlining the relative strengths and weaknesses of the theory.
