Ontario Trillium Foundation Announces Community & Province-Wide Grants

With this new program, the new Ontario Trillium Foundation recognizes the important and interdependent roles played by arts, culture, heritage, recreation, sports and social services, and the underlying value of a strong economy and a healthy environment.

PROGRAM DIRECTIONS

Funding for general operations and projects (including capital expenditures) is available under this program for Community and Province-wide Grants. Community Grants are intended for new and

existing programs and services at the local level. Province-wide Grants are intended for new and existing programs and services that reach across multiple communities or affect the entire province; for pilot projects with the potential for widespread learning and utilization; and for the dissemination of learning.

Requests for funding must achieve one or more of the following goals:

CONTRIBUTE TO COMMUNITY VITALITY

This goal will support projects and organizations which make a significant contribution to the quality of life within the community.

INCREASE ACCESS

This goal will support projects or organizations which remove barriers to participation in all aspects of community life. We will fund strategies which encourage and enable people who have found it difficult to participate in the community due to financial, physical, social or other barriers.

MAKE BETTER USE OF EXISTING COMMUNITY FACILITIES

This goal will support the creative use of existing community facilities, land and other tangible resources to meet community needs. Priority will be given to strategies which increase the use of

under-used assets or which encourage shared or multiple use.

ENCOURAGE COMMUNITY HARMONY

This goal will support projects or organizations which contribute to safer, more respectful communities.

PREVENT COMMUNITY PROBLEMS

This goal will support projects or organizations which reduce community problems by getting at underlying causes.

CREATE ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES

This goal will support non-profit organizations and projects which create or open economic opportunities to low-income communities or individuals.

INCREASE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF ORGANIZATIONS

We will support organizations, or groups of organizations, as they find better ways to use or generate resources to serve the community.
