Region of Waterloo Community Health Department - Management Positions


The Regional Municipality of Waterloo is a unique urban/rural area (population 428,000) situated in south central Ontario, approximately 100 kilometers west of Toronto, offering excellent educational, cultural, and recreational opportunities. The Waterloo Regional Community Health Department is responsible for the delivery of Provincial Ministry of Health mandatory public health and local community health programs. The department is recruiting full-time management staff for the following positions:



**Manager, Healthy Communities & Policy



Working with the Health Determinants, Planning and Evaluation Division, a new division within Community Health, you will initiate and manage community development, capacity building, and policy development initiatives related to the economic, environmental, and social factors which determine health. You will initiate, develop, research, and promote healthy public policies through negotiation and partnership with others and through working with a healthy communities approach.



An expert level knowledge of healthy public policy and community development processes is normally acquired by a Master's level degree in Health Promotion plus significant community health experience in a leadership, supervisory or management capacity. A thorough knowledge is essential in the specialized areas of sustainability indicators, economics policies and equity, and indicators of social cohesion.

**Manager, Planning & Evaluation



Working with the Health Determinants, Planning and Evaluation Division (a new division within Community Health) you will manage programs and processes related to planning and evaluating activities across all program issues in the community Health Department and initiate, develop, and coordinate research and empowerment evaluation programs related to social, economic and environmental factors which affect health.



An expert level knowledge related to both quantitative and qualitative methods, health promotion planning, and participatory/empowerment evaluation related to the determinants of health is normally acquired by a Master's level degree related to Health Research plus significant community health experience in a leadership, supervisory or management capacity. A thorough knowledge is essential in the specialized areas of sustainability indicators, economic policies and equity, and indicators of social cohesion. File #99-462. **Director, Family & Community Resources



You will direct program development, implementation, and evaluation in areas related to community-based family and parent supports, violence and abuse prevention, child and youth development, and community capacity building.



A thorough knowledge of theories and principles of public health management, health promotion, epidemiology, community health planning, and program evaluation normally acquired by a Master's level degree in Health Promotion or a health-related field is complemented with progressively responsible public health experience at a managerial level. Specialized knowledge of child and youth development, family dynamics, and community psychology is required. File #99-464 Salary ranges: $57,007 - $74,110.



**Manager, Family Health



You will manage the development and implementation of child health programs, including breast-feeding support and promotion, child nutrition programs, child abuse prevention activities, parent education and support programs, and family visiting programs for parents needing support including the provincial Healthy Babies Healthy Children Program. You will manage a multi-disciplinary team of professional staff involved in screening and assessments in partnership with delivery agencies.



A thorough knowledge of theories and principles of public health management, health promotion, epidemiology, community health planning and program evaluation normally acquired by a Master's level degree in Health Promotion or a health-related field is complemented by significant related public health experience in a leadership, supervisory or management capacity. A specialized knowledge of child development, family dynamics and community development and factors which affect children's health is required. File #99/463. Salary range: $47,115 - 61,249.



All positions will require advanced facilitation, negotiation and public relations skills in order to develop joint programming with community partner agencies and significant skills in team development.
