Community Development Worker

An exciting opportunity exists in our Health Department for a Community Development Worker. As an integral member of the tobacco use and substance abuse prevention team, you will be involved in developing

community based programs designed to promote healthy communities through participation with individuals, community groups and business organizations, using a community development strategy approach.

Success requires: * post secondary education in a health or social

services field, with a strong emphasis on community development * minimum one year experience as a community development worker * knowledge of the community served and an awareness of trends and issues which impact on health * experience working with diverse communities * good quantitative and qualitative research skills * excellent communication skills along with strong presentation, facilitation, leadership, and project management skills * access to own transportation and willingness to work some evenings and weekends.

Salary range is $36,358 - $49,195 plus comprehensive benefits.
