Health Promotion Officer, Regional Municipality of Peel


(Contract: approximately 1 year)



An exciting opportunity exists in our Sexual Health and Communicable Disease Division for a Health Promotion Officer to plan, develop,

implement, and evaluate health promotion practices/programs in order to effectively meet the Mandatory Program and Services Guidelines as well as provide recommendations based on analysis of data and results related to program planning. You will also provide consultation to staff and community members regarding health promotion theories and best practices as well as develop education and health promotion materials for the community in order to meet program objectives.



Success requires

* a university degree in Health Promotion or related health field combined with 1-3 years related experience in program development,

implementation and evaluation

* knowledge of the Mandatory Program and Service Guidelines in the areas of communicable diseases and immunization

* familiarity with key theoretical models of health education and health promotion

* strong analytical skills to interpret and apply data

* excellent social marketing and public relations skills

* knowledge of MS Office, MS Projects, SPSS or other epidemiological tools would be considered an asset

* access to own transportation and willingness to work some evenings and weekends.

5) Community Development Worker, Regional Municipality of Peel,

Brampton, Ontario- January 12, 2001



Our Health Department is seeking a dynamic and innovative Community Development Worker for our child health and reproductive health

programs. As an integral member of a multidisciplinary team, you will be involved in developing community based programs designed to promote healthy communities through participation with individuals, community groups and business organizations, using a community development strategy approach.



Success requires

* post secondary education in a health or social services field, with a strong emphasis on community development

* a minimum of 1 year experience as a community development worker

* knowledge of the community served and an awareness of trends and issues which impact on health

* experience working with diverse communities

* good quantitative and qualitative research skills

* excellent communication skills along with strong presentation, facilitation, and leadership skills

* strong project management skills

* access to own transportation and willingness to work some evenings and weekends.
