Project Coordinator, East Scarborough Storefront Project


(Contract Position February 5, 2001 - December 31, 2001; Full time or Job Share)



The project:

East Scarborough Storefront Project will provide a unique opportunity to bring together community and social services in the Scarborough East Community. We plan to offer services, programs and direct access to agency staff from a range of social service agencies in a mall "storefront location". The site will also serve as a drop-in information resource and referral centre, as well as a meeting place for workshops, information sessions and community events.



The applicant:

The successful applicant will provide support for the project by ensuring that work is coordinated and the project's goals are being met.



Responsibilities include:

* Administration duties i.e. - statistical reports, funding reports, monthly reports, develop service schedules in conjunction with partner agencies

* Oversee direct services implemented by partner agencies

* Act as a primary contact person for the site

* Recommends and provides input on current and proposed programs

* Trains, supervises and directs volunteers, students (to include evaluation )

* Maintain highly effective client and community relations

* Attend community meetings as directed by Steering Committee



Applicants need:

* B.A. in Social Service or related field

* Project management/co-ordination experience

* Demonstrated organizational skills

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team

* Ability to show initiative and do creative problem-solving

* Experience working with a diverse population

* Demonstrated experience in community development

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills

* Knowledge of East Scarborough area an asset



Salary Range: $20.00/hour - $25.00/hour (salary will commensurate with experience)
