The Coordinator will work with the Heart Health Hamilton-Wentworth Child/Youth Work Group and Social and Public Health Services (SPHS) Department staff to achieve the objectives of the heart health program and the Chronic Disease Prevention standards. The position entails community mobilization, coordination, program and resource development, planning, evaluation and applied research responsibilities.
A B.Sc.N. with two years experience in health promotion, community mobilization, program planning, implementation and evaluation. A Master's degree in health promotion, behavioural science or a related discipline would also be beneficial.
Sound knowledge of health promotion, heart health promotion, health and behaviour change theory, and health policy development is required. Necessary skills include community needs assessment, program planning, development and evaluation, communication (oral, written and mass media), group facilitation, community mobilization, public speaking, resource development, project management, computer word processing and Internet, and ability to work as a team member.
