Program Evaluator, Toronto Public Health, Education & Research Unit, Planning & Policy


(Temporary to December 31, 2001)



Salary Range: $56,600 - $76,600 annually (35 hrs/week)



Major Responsibilities

* Collaborates with Public Health program staff in the planning and evaluation for specific Public Health programs which includes reviewing program logic models

* Assists in conceptualization of research designs, evaluation projects and provides advice and guidance to public health staff across the division.

* Reviews research proposals for ethical and scientific integrity

* Assists in the implementation of the policy for evaluation and other research across the division

* Participates in statistical or complex analysis and evaluation reporting

* Prepares and submits grant applications when appropriate

* Collects pertinent literature pertaining to research and program evaluation in relation to public health practice

* Responds to requests for assistance for day-to-day evaluation problems

* Collaborates with Health Unit Staff to develop research proposals, needs and evaluability assessment for Public Health programs

* Plans and implements educational activities for staff on program evaluation



Key Qualifications:

* Masters degree in Health Sciences Education, Applied Social Sciences, Program Evaluation, Health Administration or approved combination equivalent of education and related experience

* Extensive experience with various forms of program evaluation, including the use of both qualitative and quantitative methodologies

* Several years experience in program evaluation in the health care field, or in an educational or similar setting

* Experience with microcomputer systems and statistical packages used for data analysis

* Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills

* Experience working in a multidisciplinary team setting and with community agencies

* Good organization and time management skills
