Project Manager for York Early Years

Position Summary:

The York Early Years Project is a cross-sectoral initiative designed to provide a flexible integrated seamless early years program to families/caregivers and young children in the community of York. Operated jointly by Macaulay Child Development Centre (sponsor agency), Humewood House, Learning Enrichment Foundation, Program Without Walls, Toronto District School Board (J.R. Wilcox Community School), Toronto Public Health (West Region) and Yorktown Child and Family Centre, the project will deliver a range of support, education and care programs to young families in the J.R. Wilcox School area. The project will raise public awareness of the benefits of integrated early years services for children, families and the community.

The York Early Years has been selected as an early leader in the Atkinson Foundation Early Years Million Dollar Challenge Fund and the City of Toronto Early Childhood Education Development and Care Pilot Project.

A Project Co-ordinator is required to facilitate program development, manage the overall integration of York Early Years, support governance structure, promote the development of the York Early Years integrated multi-disciplinary team, supervise the Family Support Worker, perform administrative functions for the program and promote community awareness of York Early Years.

Term: 3 years


Masters Degree in Human Services, Community Development or equivalent experience. A background in Early Childhood Education or Education would be an asset.

Demonstrated experience leading cross-sectoral and inter-agency projects is a priority. Experience in project co-ordination, program development, community development, program evaluation, monitoring budgets is a requirement.

Demonstrated ability to work creatively and collaboratively in a team setting and an understanding of projects or programs in their developmental stage is essential

Excellent written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills and strong leadership skills. A second language is an asset. Experience working in a multi-cultural setting is essential.
