Brief Description Of Duties
- Plans and coordinates the implementation and evaluation of a range of peer programs including, but not limited to peer health workers, community nutrition workers, inter-generational peers and youth peer workers, in cooperation with community partners and CHD staff.
- Supports the implementation of peer programs by partner groups/agencies by facilitating peer program development.
- Organizes, coordinates and facilitates regular peer support groups and training sessions for peer skill development.
- Researches existing peer models and uses information to assist in the refinement/expansion of peer program models for Waterloo Region.
Maximizes collaboration, efficient development and use of resources and support/learning among CHD peer programs.
Facilitates the work of a steering committee that provides input into the implementation of peer programs, policies, directions, budgetary and funding decisions, including development of a program manual, resources, and training packages for peers.
Provides administrative support to the steering committee and manages administrative aspects of peer programs, such as contracts.
Performs other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES REQUIRED
Thorough knowledge of community development and experience in the application of community development and capacity building an undergraduate degree related to community development, human resource management, volunteer management, or equivalent plus a minimum of two years experience coordinating peers or volunteers. Knowledge of peer programming with a variety of target populations.
Working knowledge of regional organizations and groups which participate in health enhancing activities. Experience in program planning and implementation including administration. Knowledge and experience with adult education principles. Knowledge of potential funders for peer programs in Waterloo Region. Excellent communication, human relations, organizational and time management skills are required. Skill in the operation of a personal computer for statistical analysis and word processing using Corel WordPerfect, Quattro Pro and Presentations.
WAGE/SALARY $35,909 - 40,823 per annum\$19.73 - 22.43 per hour
