Reporting to the Manager, Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention Division, the Food Industry

Nutritionist is part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating and evaluating programs, policies and services that will inform consumers of healthy food choices for the new City of Ottawa



The successful candidate will possess a Baccalaureate degree in Foods and Nutrition or equivalent

from a recognized university, plus a Master's degree in Community Nutrition or equivalent (as

mandated under Ontario regulation 164/84 of Health Promotion and Protection Act) plus a minimum

of two years experience as a Public Health Nutritionist, one year in food service administration and

supervision, and qualification for Registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario. Effective oral

and written communication skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and

excellent organizational, project management, human relations and administration skills are

required. Leadership skills to advocate for and formulate policies relevant to food and nutrition and a

thorough working knowledge of health behaviors, health policy, community development principles,

program planning processes and evaluation research will be key to the success of this role. You

must be able to identify community nutrition needs, evaluate program effectiveness and participate in

nutrition coordination to ensure efficient co-ordination and implementation of services. A Valid Class

G (unrestricted) driver's license and access to efficient, reliable transportation will be required on a

regular basis.
