The Ontario Prevention Clearinghouse (OPC) is a health promotion and prevention agency providing information, education, consultation, and networking services in French and English province-wide. Best Start: Ontario's Maternal, Newborn and Early Child Development Resource Centre is a key program of OPC. The successful applicant will provide administrative support during a maternity leave to the Best Start team and contribute to the administrative team at the Ontario Prevention Clearinghouse. This is a full time, 1-year position.
Administrative Assistant, 1 year contract
Closing Date: Monday July 12, 2004

Start Date: mid-August 2004
Responsibilities
* Coordinate and support administrative activities within the team (e.g., reports, workplans, electronic newsletters)
* Coordinate various internal meetings, including logistics and minutes when requested
* Coordinate assigned components of websites, including maintenance, monitoring, updating, and improvement
* Coordinate and/or support resource and promotional material development including liaison with researchers, writers, designers, translators, printers, and other vendors
* Coordinate and/or support inventory monitoring and maintenance of resource materials
* Coordinate and/or support management of resource holdings
* Coordinate and/or support assigned databases, including maintenance, monitoring, updating, and improvement
* Interact with clients (respond to general inquiries, some reception)
* Prepare cheque requisitions
* General administrative functions (photocopy, file, fax, travel arrangements, etc.)
Qualifications
* Community college certificate or equivalent experience plus clerical/technical experience
* Minimum 3 years experience in an administrative capacity, preferably in a non-profit, health promotion or social service environment
* Excellent word processing, spreadsheet, database & computer skills (e.g., Word, Excel, Access)
* Strong data entry skills and experience in maintaining databases
* Strong administrative and organizational skills, with a high degree of attention to detail and the ability to work with multiple projects and demands simultaneously
* Excellent communication and creative problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as an integral member of a team
* Oral and written proficiency in French preferred
