Research Coordinator/Associate, St. Michael's Hospital Division of Neurosurgery and Injury Prevention Research Office

Dr. Michael Cusimano of the Division of Neurosurgery and the Injury Prevention Research Office at St. Michael's Hospital is currently looking for a Research Coordinator/Associate. As a member of the research team, the Research Coordinator/Associate will work directly with the Principal Investigator on completing ongoing and beginning new research in injury prevention and brain tumours. The Research Coordinator/Associate will be responsible for the development and implementation of research protocols, design and execution of research studies, preparation of ethics applications, research grants and manuscripts, and the supervision of students, other staff and volunteers.

Duties and Responsibilities

* assist Investigator in the initiation of new research and grant writing

* prepare consent forms, REB submissions, and progress reports

* prepare and manage budgets

* communicate with study participants and liaise with community partners

* perform literature searches and summaries, systematic reviews

* perform statistical analyses including decision and utilities analyses, time series

* present research related information including reports and abstracts

* write manuscripts

* train and supervise data entry clerks, ensuring data quality

* general office duties e.g., filing, faxing, mailings, courier services, photocopying, etc

Essential Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills

* PhD preferably, Masters only acceptable with significant relevant research experience and strong analytical skills

* previous experience in epidemiology or the equivalent, protocol development, grant writing, and making presentations to scientific audiences is preferred

* an aptitude for accuracy, detail and problem-solving

* proficient using computer software packages (i.e., SAS or SPSS, Access, Excel, Word, Powerpoint, NUDIST, GIS and Reference Manager)

* experience in data management

* experience conducting qualitative analysis

* excel at working collaboratively and independently

* outstanding verbal and written communication skills

* good time and detail management skills
