Public Health Nutritionists (2), Region of Waterloo Public Health

2 positions, Full-time & Temporary Full-time (for approx. 12 months)

Providing strategic leadership and direction on public health nutrition
issues, as well as assessing/establishing policy and assuring public
health nutrition programs and services protect and promote health and
prevent disease, you will lead the planning, coordination, staffing,
implementation and evaluation of public health nutrition programs that
meet local needs. Collaborating in the development of an annual
operational plan/budget and using population-based strategies to
support nutrition promotion and healthy food systems development, you
will also train, coordinate and mentor Community Nutrition Workers
operating out of diverse locations across the Region. Frequent trips to
neighbourhood associations, schools, offices and Provincial health
units will also be required.

With a Baccalaureate degree in Foods and Nutrition (or equivalent) plus
a Master's degree in Community Nutrition or equivalent from a
recognized university (as mandated under Ontario regulation 164/84 of
the Health Promotion and Protection Act), you have a minimum of one
public health nutrition practicum and are registered with the College
of Dieticians of Ontario. Possessing a thorough working knowledge of
health behaviours, food systems, health policy, community development
principles, program planning processes and evaluation research, you
also have the experience to ensure technical, planning and evaluation
skills are adequate for providing nutrition services across all
programs. The ability to understand abstract concepts, discern reliable
information from distorted material contained in popular/science
literature and identify community nutrition needs, as well as a valid
Class ‘G' driver's licence and an acceptable driving record are also

Salary range: $51,760.80 - $64,719.20 per annum
