Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention Division.

As an active member of the Healthy Eating and Physical Activity
multidisciplinary team, you will provide input into the planning and
implementation of a variety of initiatives to meet the Chronic Disease
Prevention Standards of the Mandatory Health Programs and Services
Guidelines. Specifically, you will support programs and strategies that
prevent childhood obesity and promote healthy eating for children and
youth by providing community displays and education and training
sessions on healthy eating to such groups as school personnel, parents
of school-aged children, community groups and agencies, staff and
volunteers.  You will also collaborate with other divisional teams
and external partners to develop and implement health promotion
strategies and resources to support elementary and secondary school
health promotion initiatives that reflect a comprehensive school health

If you possess

  • a Bachelor of Science Degree specializing in food and nutrition or equivalent
  • completion of an accredited dietetic internship
  • current general registration in good standing with the College of Dietitians of Ontario
  • minimum 1 year experience in community or public health nutrition
  • excellent communications (both verbal and written) and organizational skills
  • exceptional customer service orientation, tact and diplomacy
    skills necessary to deal with diverse clients including school
    administrators, teachers and parents, agencies and groups
  • computer skills, including MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • knowledge of the health promotion strategies and theories
    specific to comprehensive school health interventions and knowledge of
    the Region of Peel (asset)
  • demonstrated ability and interest in working effectively in a multi-disciplinary team
  • an ability to travel to various regional locations and a
    willingness to work some evenings and weekends, we would like to hear
