The Lung Association is a registered charity that provides information
and funding for research to improve lung health. We focus on prevention
and control of chronic lung disease, asthma management, tobacco
cessation and prevention and air quality and its effects on lung
health. For over thirty years, The Lung Association (TLA) has been a
leader in tobacco control. This leadership has been exhibited around
the three areas of tobacco control - prevention, cessation and
protection. Over the past five years, TLA's focus in tobacco control
has been on youth.
The Lung Association's Youth Advocacy Training Institute (YATI) as a
training and technical assistance resource center of Smoke Free Ontario
provides training to Peer Leaders and Youth Advisors of the Youth
TLA is requesting proposals for the evaluation of the Youth Advocacy
Training Institute. The results of this evaluation will be shared with
the Ministry of Health Promotion, the Ontario Tobacco Research Unit,
and will disseminated as appropriate to other relevant stakeholders.
Major deliverables include
A. develop an evaluation process and pertinent tools to measure the following three evaluation objectives
- Determine extent to which lessons in YATI's mandatory provincial
and regional trainings are incorporated into the function of YAAs 6
months after trainings are completed.
- Determine extent to which YATI ongoing regional technical assistance meets the needs of the YAAs.
- Determine extent to which YATI initiates or supports regional and provincial youth movements in tobacco.
B. Implement the evaluation process and pertinent tools.
C. Prepare interim and final evaluation reports.
The successful contractor must perform an independent assessment of
three evaluation objectives for the period that commences February 1st,
2007, to November 1st, 2007.
