HSE Coordinator (Ergonomics), The University of British Columbia

Job Summary

Responsible for developing, and managing as well as coordinating and advising on a  University-wide Ergonomics Program in accordance with regulatory requirements in order to reduce the number and severity of musculoskeletal injuries.  Provides ergonomics advice on the designs of new facilities and renovations. Develops course and training materials as well as promotes the program on campus. Performs assessments of ergonomic risk factors and recommends control measures. Trains designated management and staff to conduct field inspections. Responsible for managing the Office Ergonomics Representatives Program involving training of designated ergonomics representatives to conduct office ergonomics assessments. Provides ergonomic advice in facilitating the return of injured workers to full employment.

Qualifications

Graduation from University or recognized post-secondary institution in science or related area of study that incorporates ergonomics. A combination of experience and extensive technical training in ergonomics would be considered. C.P.E. designation is required.

Three years experience in ergonomic field evaluations and program development in a municipal or educational setting.  Several years' supervisory and training experience is desirable.
