Child and Family Clinician, Child Development Institute

Child Development Institute is seeking two Child and Family Clinicians to work within their Family Violence Services.  These services provide early intervention, prevention and counselling services for children and their mothers who have been exposed to woman abuse.  The goal of our services is to assist mothers and their young children to recover from their experiences.  The position involves providing intake, counselling (individual/parent-child/group) and follow up services to mothers who have experienced abuse and their young children (0-4yrs).


  • Masters degree or equivalent in clinically relevant field
  • 2 years directly related experience
  • Knowledge of and experience with the issues of woman abuse and trauma
  • Knowledge of child development, attachment processes, infant mental health and the impact of exposure to violence
  • Experience in individual, parent-child and group work
  • Knowledge of and experience working with families from diverse backgrounds
  • Knowledge of and experience with crisis support services
  • Specific training and experience in parent-child psychotherapy
  • Proficiency with computers (including use of email, MS Word and the Internet)
  • Knowledge of a second language would be an asset
