The Canadian Mental Health Association is seeking a national chief executive to champion the cause of transforming mental health policy and services in Canada.
The CMHA is a trusted leader in mental health reform, public education and community based service delivery across Canada.
The CEO will play a central role in advocacy and policy development, and will facilitate collaborative leadership with the 12 CMHA Divisions and their 135 branches.
Experience and qualifications should include: Knowledge of and experience in research and policy development, experience with and/or capacity to work with a volunteer board, experience in or knowledge of multi-tiered, federation-type organizations, government relations experience, recognition of and comfort with the CMHA consumer/ family/ community focus, ability to maximize the full resources of a small immediate staff group, as well as the CMHA affiliates across Canada, experience with fund development, strong capacity to develop and maintain partnerships and relationships within CMHA and strategic alliances with external partners.
Candidates should have a Masters degree in a relevant field, (ideally in the social or health sciences) combined with more than five years of senior management experience, preferably in both the non government and government sectors, and be fully bilingual in French and English.
This position is based in Ottawa with management responsibility for staff at the Toronto office and travel there every two weeks.
