In The Mind's Eye: Issues of Substance Use in Film + Forum is seeking films--shorts, features, documentaries, etc.--for this unique series. In 2006, more than 2,000 people attended 34 events over 10 weeks that combined film, workshops and keynote presentations.
In The Mind's Eye aims to raise general awareness about substance use, improve skills for service providers, bring evidence-based strategies to light and inspire (systems) change. The series is offered free of charge, beginning in September and continuing through to the end of November.
ITME 2007 is particularly interested in films that address issues of stereotypes and stigmatization for people who are, or have, used drugs (including alcohol). Also of interest are films that reflect the experiences of others affected by substance use issues-- families and friends for example.
Films that speak progressively to issues of prevention/education, harm reduction, treatment and enforcement/criminal justice are welcomed too.
