The Media Network for a Smoke-Free Ontario, is a program of Cancer Care Ontario, a leading organization in cancer control and is part of the Program Training and Consultation Centre for Smoke Free Ontario. The Media Network, was established early in 2000 under the Ontario Tobacco Strategy, with a mandate to increase positive media coverage around tobacco control issues at local and provincial levels through media advocacy. The core services of the Media Network are knowledge exchange, media and public relations training, and customized consultation for partners at the local, regional and provincial levels working in tobacco control in Ontario. The Manager of the Media Network for a Smoke-Free Ontario will guide the direction, planning and implementation of the core services and ensure strategic decision-making, strong programming and positive outcomes.
Qualifications Include: Completion of a graduate degree program in communications, journalism or public health with 5-10 years directly related media experience or equivalent, demonstrated leadership and knowledge of tobacco control and cancer prevention.
