In The Mind's Eye 2007: Issues of Substance Use in Film + Forum

The Community Safety & Crime Prevention Council of Waterloo Region is pleased to announce that In The Mind's Eye 2007:  Issues of Substance Use in Film + Forum begins September 19 with street nurses from Vancouver and closes November 30.  With more than 50 events-- made up of films, workshops and keynote speakers--there really is something for everyone.  All events occur during the week, during the day and evening at locations throughout Waterloo region.  Almost all events are held free of charge.

The economic burden of drug and alcohol use in Canada is more than $22 billion.  More than half of the costs of the criminal justice system are related to issues of drugs and/or alcohol.  The impact on individuals, families and neighbourhoods is significant.  In The Mind's Eye raises critical issues, and innovative solutions.

In The Mind's Eye 2007 is a unique Canadian series presented in association with community partners by the Community Safety & Crime Prevention Council, a Canadian leader in crime prevention since 1994.  Last year more than 2,000 people attended this premier Canadian series.

Featuring Canadian films from Glace Bay, Toronto, Thunder Bay, Regina, Vancouver plus films from Australia, Bolivia, Cambodia, China, England, Iran, Pakistan, Russia, Scotland, Switzerland, Ukraine, United States and more.  Film events occur weekly and this may be your only chance to catch these North American premiers.  More than 30 workshops and keynotes bring the best of the world to Waterloo region.
