Request for Consultant--Youth Advocacy Training Institute, The Lung Association

The Youth Advocacy Training Institute (YATI), a program of The Lung Association, was established in 2005 (by the Ontario Ministry of Health Promotion) as a provincial training and resource centre with a mandate to provide training and technical assistance to Ontario's Youth Action Alliances (YAAs) staff and volunteers. YATI's activities center around three major program components: 1) provision of training to YAA staff, 2) provision of ongoing technical assistance and support to YAAs, 3) implementation of a provincial youth tobacco control conference.

Annually, YATI, in conjunction with a youth-driven Steering Committee, plans, implements and evaluates a provincial youth summit for all Youth Action Alliance staff members. During the course of the conference YAA members were provided with opportunities to network with other YAA clusters and tobacco control advocates; enhance and build skills in advocacy, action planning and media literacy; and to celebrate past successes and build momentum for the future.

This two-day conference will consist of

  • Keynote speakers
  • A choice of concurrent workshops to be offered throughout the day.
  • Youth Action Alliance booths and displays
  • Networking opportunities
  • Teambuilding activities
  • An Advocacy Activity
  • Entertainment activities such as a dance or coffee house
  • The conference is confirmed for May 23-25, 2008 at the London Convention Centre

YATI is now accepting proposals from consultants.  Please visit
