The Culture and Politics of Street Food Vending

3:00-5:00 p.m.
Studio Theatre, Harbourfront Centre

The panel discussion is part of Harbourfront Centre's Hot & Spicy Food Festival. We'll be at Harbourfront all weekend (Aug 11& 12) presenting the Street Food Vending Project. Check out our displays on vending in Toronto and our homemade vending cart!

Panelists: Mariana Valderde, Centre of Criminology, University of Toronto; Sean Basinski, Director, Street Vendor Project, Urban Justice Center (NYC); Liette Gilbert, Faculty of Environmental Studies, York University; and street vendors (to be announced).

The Street Food Vending Project aims to introduce healthy, affordable, and culturally diverse street food to Toronto; improve vending policies and opportunities for existing vendors; and educate the public on the links between street vending and larger planning themes such as sustainable development, regulation of urban space, workers' rights and socio-cultural expression in a multicultural city.
