The Best Start Resource Centre provides information and consultations in English and French on a wide range of topics to service providers across Ontario who work with expectant parents and young families. Topics range from health before pregnancy, pregnancy (e.g., substance use during pregnancy, men's reproductive health, teen pregnancy/parenting, advanced maternal age), maternal health (e.g., post-partum depression, breastfeeding) and issues related to child health (e.g., shaken baby syndrome, physical activity and the early years).
On-site consultations, in your community, are intensive, in-depth sessions that can help you work on a specific issue. Content and timing are tailored to meet your needs. Basic consultations serve to increase knowledge about current research and implications and help you consider and select effective strategies. Advanced consultations are designed to assist you in developing plans, designing initiatives, building partnerships, problem solving, etc. The Resource Centre covers some costs related to on-site consultants. These on-site consultations need to be booked in advance.
Best Start will review requests for On-site Consultations every 6 months and a decision will be made within 4 weeks of the following deadlines:
- December 3, 2007, for services from April 2008 to September 2008
- June 1, 2008, for services from October 2008 to March 2009
