Program Manager, Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention Department, Hastings & Prince Edward Counties Health Unit

The Hastings & Prince Edward Counties Health Unit requires a Program Manager for the Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention Department

This is a full time maternity leave contract from February 20, 2008 for up to twelve months. This is a Non-Union Management position reporting to the Director, Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention.  The incumbent will manage an interdisciplinary team and be responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of the assigned Chronic Disease & Injuries programs to meet the requirements of the Mandatory Health Programs & Services Guidelines 1997 as well as the enhanced Smoke-Free Ontario Program.


  • A baccalaureate degree in a health related discipline.  A Master's degree in a health related discipline, an asset.
  • Leadership, decision making, analytical, communication and negotiation as well as organization and facilitation skills.
  • Knowledge of the theories of public health, health promotion, behaviour change and the principles of evidence based health promotion practice.A minimum of 5 years experience in public health with progressive leadership, supervisory and management responsibilities and experience in program planning and evaluation. 
  • A valid driver's licence, use of a vehicle and a satisfactory police records check.

Normal working hours are 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., however flexible working hours are required.
