Organizations, networks, and groups across southern Ontario and beyond are invited to participate in the workshops and programs being developed for the first Toronto Community Development Institute scheduled for April 24-26, 2008. The deadline for submissions is January 15, 2008.
The gathering is intended to bring together budding activists and experienced practitioners from the whole universe of community work fields--community organizing, neighbourhood building, environmental advocacy, capacity building, social movements building, unions, cooperatives, social enterprises, etc. You are encouraged to present your experiences or models of practice, related to community mobilization and development, in creative and interactive workshops.
This initiative is a collaborative effort on the part of people from the universities, colleges, community networks, labour organizations, antiracism/anti-oppression networks, social justice groups, and others. We invite you to join us in creating a learning, sharing, networking opportunity in Toronto that we believe would be a benefit to your community or organization.
The event will include morning and afternoon workshops, time for networking, evening social events, Friday forum with guest speakers, field trips to local sites, cultural celebrations, and more.
