1.0    FTE Full Time position

The Heart Health Resource Centre (HHRC) based at the Ontario Public Health Association is designed to enhance the capacity of local public health agencies and their community partners working in chronic disease prevention and the Ontario Heart Health Program. The HHRC uses a number of approaches to achieve this including: consultation, training, information knowledge exchange, networking, support to the Ontario Heart Health Network and the Chronic Disease Prevention Managers in Public Health. The HHRC is a member of the Ontario Health Promotion Resource System (OHPRS).

The HHRC is seeking a full-time Program Coordinator to support its various programs and activities.

The Program Coordinator will be responsible for the coordination of several different projects at HHRC and potentially overseeing graduate students. Tasks and responsibilities may include but are not limited to, the following areas:

Manage the HHRC Consultation and Coaching Service

  • Manage a roster of internal and external HHRC Consultants
  • Provide consultation service to OHHP Community Partnerships by either acting as a consultant or by assigning an external consultant
  • Track and monitor all consultations
  • Coordinate or provide coaching services to the OHHP coordinators

Work with the Ontario Heart Health Network:

  • Participate in the Ontario Heart Health Network and provide support to the Executive and associated OHHN subcommittees
  • Align HHRC activities to support OHHN strategic direction and activities

Manage the HHRC FLS project

  • Oversee work of FLS Consultant, FLS Advisory Group and FLS activities
  • Coordinate FLS networking opportunities and workshops

Manage HHRC website

  • Review HHRC website and coordinate regular updates so that it is current
  • Manage the HHRC on-line tracking system

Support to HHRC Manager and HHRC Team

  • Responds to inquires, comments and requests for resources and/or information relating to HHRC from external professionals, funders, researchers and others in a timely manner
  • Coordinates (or oversees coordination of) logistical support for HHRC meetings, training events and consultations
  • Ensures records, files, service-tracking and databases are organized, accurate, complete and current
  • Supports the Manager and Team members at key meetings or on committees as required

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an undergraduate degree in health promotion, public health, social sciences or a combination of education and work experience. Graduate degree preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in community based programming; public health; chronic disease prevention; local program evaluation design and implementation; and training and consultation. Experience as OHHP Coordinator preferred
  • Excellent written and communication skills with ability to analyze and prioritize large amounts of data
  • Strong organizational skills combined with superior interpersonal skill and tact
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with various committees, health professionals, funders and field representatives
  • Proven computer skills specifically with Microsoft software applications
  • French language skills would be considered an asset

Salary: Based on qualifications and experience

Travel: some provincial travel is involved
