Heath Analyst, Health--Communicable Diseases, Region of Peel

Salary ranges from: $55,142-$68,928
One (1) regular full-time position

Location: 44 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton
Hours of Work: 35 hours/week - Monday through Friday

Duties & Responsibilities

Provides accurate and timely health data to support the surveillance of communicable diseases for the purposes of monitoring diseases and providing health information in order to plan evidence-based public health programs.  Uses software applications and analytic tools (Access, Excel, SPSS, Epi-Info) to retrieve, analyze and interpret health-related surveillance data.  Provides surveillance data in useful, understandable formats to internal and external clients through standardized routine reports and customized ad hoc reports.  Provide administration and quality assurance of reportable disease management systems.


University degree in a health science field with emphasis on statistics, epidemiology, health status measurement, or a related discipline combined with 1 to 3 years related experience in the management and analysis of health-information databases.  Demonstrated experience in retrieving, analyzing and interpreting health-related surveillance data.  Excellent computer skills (e.g. Access, Excel, SPSS, Epi-Info), and ability to develop standardized formulas and automated statistical processes.  Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as project management and organizational skills.  Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.  Demonstrated ability to work efficiently within and interdisciplinary team setting.  Knowledge of Mandatory Program and Service Guidelines.  Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment, and willingness to work some evenings and weekends.
