Nurse Practitioner, Merrickville District Community Health Centre

Merrickville District Community Health Centre is seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE) Nurse Practitioner (Maternity Leave)  to join our interdisciplinary team consisting of nurses, physicians, social worker, dietitian, asthma/COPD educators, health promotion coordinator, chiropodist, diabetes educators, data/information systems manager and support staff.  The position is available July 2008.

Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner (RNEC)
Full-Time Position
Maternity Leave

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary health care services within the scope of practice of the RN-EC with a focus on health promotion and disease prevention
  • Teach, counsel and advocate to enhance health and well-being of individuals, groups and families
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team
  • Participate in the development and implementation of organizational initiatives including chronic disease management
  • Mentor health professional students
  • Participate in system changes to continue the enhancement of interdisciplinary primary care teams

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of an approved program of study in preparation for the role and responsibilities of an RN-EC as outlined in the CNO standards of practice
  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing
  • A minimum of three years of practice as a registered nurse
  • Sound clinical judgment and strong health assessment and diagnostic skills
  • Understanding of rural communities and rural health care challenges
  • Proven interpersonal, team and communication skills
  • Program development and evaluation skills
  • Proficiency in use of computers and various software applications
  • Availability to work flexible hours to meet service needs
  • Demonstrated time management skills
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle
