Manager, Young Families Team, Family Health Services, Middlesex-London Health Unit

The Middlesex-London Health Unit has an exciting opportunity for a Young Families Team Manager who will provide operational and strategic leadership to a team of Public Health Nurses delivering community programs including parenting, Well Baby, Child and Breastfeeding Clinics, telephone counseling, and various special projects impacting the health of families with infants and young children.  Reporting to the Director of Family Health Services and working as a member of a leadership team, the Manager will implement Provincial programs related to reproductive and child health.  In addition to ensuring operational plans are developed, implemented and evaluated, this role calls for creative review and design of new initiatives.  Working closely with staff across the Health Unit, issues such as the promotion of breastfeeding, postpartum depression, safety, healthy eating, active families and healthy family dynamics will be addressed.   This position also manages the Health Connection and Infantline, seven days a week programs, which provide telephone counseling, referral and education to the public with a focus on young families.

As a member of the Family Health Services Leadership Team and the Agency Management group, the Manager is a vital participant in the development of agency strategic direction, as well as the development and implementation of operational plans to meet the agency mission.  With approximately 15 - 20 professional staff on the team, the manager utilizes extensive human resource skills in maintaining a vibrant professional workforce. The Manager also monitors budgets for all related programs carried out by the team.

Requirements for this position include current CNO registration as a Registered Nurse, a B.Sc.N, and a Masters degree in a Health or related discipline. Candidates will have excellent communication, interpersonal, problem solving and organizational skills.  Preference will be given to candidates with experience in public health, working with young families, and managing programs and professionals.  The ability to communicate in French or other languages would be considered an asset.
