The National Collaborating Centre for Methods and Tools (NCCMT) (www.nccmt.ca) of the School of Nursing is currently recruiting for a full-time Knowledge Broker.
The Knowledge Broker will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Network and Partnership Development - initiating, facilitating, overseeing and managing the development and maintenance of the NCCMT Network, including promoting the value of and facilitating knowledge and skill development related to knowledge synthesis, transfer and exchange (KSTE) and evidence-informed decision making (EIDM) among Network members and other key public health professionals across Canada
- Network Evaluation - designing, implementing, and appraising the evaluation process of the Network
- Knowledge Transfer and Exchange - developing and implementing interactive tools and processes to make research knowledge relevant, accessible, useful and valued by all groups
- Capacity Development - providing opportunities for capacity development for KSTE and EIDM to key organizations and individuals within public health across Canada
- Collaboration with Internal Colleagues - working with NCCMT Directors and the NCCMT National Advisory Group to implement action plans to realize the NCCMT's strategic plans and recommendations from the NCCMT Network evaluation(s).
Other related duties will include:
- contributing to the development of abstracts, presentations, manuscripts, e-newsletters and other publications for dissemination to Network members and to the broader public health and KSTE communities
- assisting with the preparation of NCCMT work plans, budgets and progress reports
- assisting with the preparation of NCCMT reports to funders and other key organizations
- assisting with the preparation of NCCMT grant submissions and other funding requests
The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in health sciences, public health or a related field with 5 years experience in public health and at least 1 year of experience in knowledge transfer and exchange and group facilitation.
Experience, skills and competencies required include:
- an understanding of knowledge transfer and exchange methods
- excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication and presentation skills
- experience writing for the web and creating plain language documents
- an understanding of the public health environment and how decisions are made in this environment
- experience working within research and government environments
- a strong ability to work independently and also collaborate well with team members.
