Initial Assignment: FOCUS Resource Centre, Regional Services
The FOCUS Resource Centre (FRC) is seeking a highly organized and energetic person to coordinate an Ontario Stroke Strategy funded project. Reporting to the Manager of FRC, the Project Coordinator will work with FOCUS Program staff, community partners and stakeholders to provide project coordination of Alcohol Risk, Stroke and Cancer - a Primary Care Education Project for primary care providers throughout the province. The Project Coordinator will coordinate the planning, presentation and evaluation of 5 forums and 2 webinars throughout the province. S/he will identify local educational opportunities in specific communities, will establish local planning teams, will organize speakers, resources and venues, will develop overall project and evaluation plans and will provide reports as required. This position will cover the first 7 months (September 2008 to March 2009) of a two phase project, with the possibility of renewal after the completion of Phase 1. The position is located in Kingston, Ontario.
The successful candidate must have a Bachelors' degree and a minimum of 2 years experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, in community health promotion, program evaluation, and adult education preferably in a health context. The candidate will be proficient in MS Office applications, web applications and database management and will have strong project management skills. S/he will have excellent oral and written communication skills, a proven track record of successful completion of time-limited initiatives and have the ability to work with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. The candidate must have the capacity to work independently, be willing to travel occasionally and possess a driver's license. Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language would be an asset.
This part-time, 7 month contract position is not part of any Bargaining unit. There is the possibility of a 12 month extension.
