The Middlesex-London Health Unit has a full-time permanent position for a Public Health Inspector in Environmental Health and Chronic Disease Prevention Services. We are seeking motivated, self-starting individuals who are eager to further develop their expertise in prevention, enforcement, promotion, protection, education and research in a generalized program (excluding Part VIII) in a designated area. Duties could relate to food safety, safe water, air quality, health hazard investigation, rabies, West Nile Virus, community presentations, and other activities.
This position requires a B.A.Sc. in Environmental Health and certification as a Public Health Inspector by the Canadian Institute of Public Health Inspectors (CIPHI). Candidates must also have a valid Ontario Driver's Licence and use of a reliable vehicle during working hours. Applicants should also have excellent verbal and written communication skills and a thorough knowledge of the Health Protection and Promotion Act, related regulations, and the Mandatory Programs. The ability to communicate in French or other languages would be considered an asset.
Permanent full-time staff enjoy a wide range of fully paid health and dental benefits, the OMERS pension plan, competitive salaries, and a stimulating work environment. Full-time Public Health Inspectors currently earn $53,452 to $66,815 per annum. The present mileage rates for business travel are $0.49 per km for the first 5000 km in the calendar year and $0.43 per km thereafter.
