Program Manager, Young Adult Team, Family Health Services, Middlesex-London Health Unit

Family Health Services has an exciting opportunity for a Program Manager responsible for the School-based Young Adult Program. The successful candidate will provide leadership to a team of Public Health Nurses and a Dietician guided by Provincial Public Health Program Standards. Nurses are assigned to provide programs and services in secondary schools and alternative education centres in London & Middlesex.  A major emphasis involves partnering with school communities and boards of education to offer comprehensive health promotion programs and services to youth. Comprehensive School Health (CSH) or Healthy Schools is a multifaceted approach that emphasises the creation of dynamic, collaborative partnerships among children and youth, parents, teachers, principals, school councils and community agencies concerned with the health and learning of children. Partnerships and healthy policies are integral within this health promotion approach.

Additional Youth Health Program responsibilities could include adolescent prenatal and parenting programs, parenting education for parents of teens, facilitating teen support groups, counselling and consultation with young adults and school staff, healthy relationships, healthy sexuality, substance use/abuse, healthy eating/body weights, tobacco free living, etc.

Requirements for this position include current CNO registration as a Registered Nurse, a B.Sc.N, and a Masters degree in a Health or related discipline. Candidates will have excellent communication, interpersonal, problem solving, and organizational skills.  Preference will be given to candidates with experience in public health and management experience related to children and/or youth.  The ability to communicate in French or other languages would be considered an asset.
