Position Description

Position: Specialist, eHealth Promotion
Reports to: Manager, Consumer eHealth
Department: Research, Advocacy and Health Promotion
Status: Contract, Full-Time

Role Definition:

The Specialist, eHealth is responsible for many coordination and customer service aspects of two different HSFO on-line health promotion businesses. Those two roles are:

1. Online self-management programs

Responsible for a wide range of coordination and customer service work related to HSFO’s online self-management programs. Current programs are:

a) My Heart&Stroke Blood Pressure Action Plan
b) My Heart&Stroke Healthy Weight Action Plan,
c) My Heart&Stroke Risk Assessment and
d) An ongoing Email Support program.

2. Spark Together For Healthy Kids Initiative

Responsible for supporting the Sr. Manager, Spark Together for Healthy Kids and other Spark Team members with coordination, monitoring, customer service and evaluation related to on-line social networking, communication, advocacy and engagement.

The position reports into the Manager, Consumer eHealth. However, guidance and coaching will come from both the Manager, Consumer eHealth as well as the Senior Manager, Spark Together For Healthy Kids Initiative

Key Accountabilities: Consumer eHealth Tools

Program Development & Management

Responsible for supporting the Manager, Consumer E-Health Programs with coordination related to the maintenance of existing tools, the development and implementation of enhanced products, and evaluation.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring and analysis of tracking reports and consumer feedback to identify issues and opportunities for the team
  • Participate as part of the team to address user issues and opportunities
  • Develop and maintain documentation related to product changes
  • Develop and gain approval to revised copy and content where required.
  • Coordination with suppliers to ensure work is delivered on time, as per specs.
  • Testing of programming work undertaken.
  • Coordination with suppliers to support completion of evaluation tasks as outlined in the evaluation plan.
  • Support in developing and maintaining development, implementation and documentation of processes necessary to maintain the eHealth programs

Advertising and Promotion

  • Coordinate execution of promotional activities targeted to public, healthcare providers, area offices and health promotion partners.

Customer Service and Interaction

  • Responsible for responding to questions from the public in regards to the Consumer eHealth Tools portfolio.
  • Moderate the online chat function of any of the e-tools, should HSFO proceed with them

Other Projects

  • As appropriate, undertake other specific projects in consultation with the Manager, Consumer eHealth.

Key Accountabilities Specialist, Spark On-Line Engagement (0.4)

On-Line Monitoring, Tracking & Data Management

  • Monitoring and analysis of tracking reports and consumer feedback to identify issues and opportunities for ongoing public dialogue and engagement and advocacy activities.
  • Coordination with internal and external providers to support compilation and completion of evaluation tasks as outlined in the evaluation plan.
  • Support in developing and maintaining development, implementation and documentation of processes necessary to maintain the on-line engagement
  • Participate as part of the team to address identified issues and opportunities and develop tactical action plans to continue to grow and expand on-line engagement

Communications & Advocacy

  • Responsible for monitoring public inquiries and postings and respond as required (with support and supervision from Sr. Mgr and Spark Team).
  • Monitor and moderate (as needed) all social media components and activities
  • Develop and gain approval to revised copy and content where required.
  • Support Sr. Manager and Campaign Coordinator in execution of on-line communications and advocacy activities.

Other Projects

  • As appropriate, undertake other specific projects in consultation with the Sr. Manager, Spark Together for Healthy Kids

Other Requirements

  • Healthcare /health informatics industry or Health Sciences education or experience is an asset
  • Experience and/or knowledge of chronic disease management, health promotion and patient education/behaviour change principles
  • Track record of successful project management including health-related projects and communication strategies
  • PC literate with extensive knowledge of the Internet, Microsoft Office package (Familiarity with MS Visio and MS Project would be considered an asset) and social media and networking expertise
  • Prior website development/information architecture work would be an asset
