Join an Online Course to Support Childhood Asthma Education

We are excited to offer the Roaring Adventures of Puff (or "RAP") on-line training program to healthcare professionals thanks to a grant from the National Lung Health Framework.  RAP is a unique child-friendly asthma education program developed to assist children with asthma and their families to successfully manage their condition. We have designed a learning community with short, dynamic, interactive modules, guest experts from across the country, and opportunities to share your experiences and opinions with other participants.  You will be able to do the course at your own pace and at times that are convenient for you (within the overall course timeline). We estimate course time will be 16-24 hours in total. Topics include engaging children in learning, facilitating groups, changing health behaviours, and providing support.

This course will be offered in June/July/August to meet our project timelines, to take advantage of a typically slow time for patient interactions, and to enable participants to deliver RAP in schools in the fall.  The purpose of this announcement is to inquire about availability for this next subsidized course opportunity.

Please indicate your interest/availability via the link to the (very short!) potential participant survey (using Surveymonkey): http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/PNXJ5G5 .  If you are unable to access this survey,  please respond to this announcement expressing your interest and we will contact you directly.

Participants from our first course pilot indicated the following benefits to participation:
*         receive continuing education credit
*         learn from others in a online learning community
*         enhance teaching skills with children
*         provide ideas for child-friendly learning activities
*         enhance group education skills
*         enable teaching of "Roaring Adventures of Puff" program
*         provides strategies to work with schools
*         facilitate peer connections and support.

We are limiting the class size to 30 to 35 students.  If you would like to be on our waiting list, please provide your contact information in the attached survey.  Thank you for completing the survey and for your interest in RAP on-line.  Please contact Maureen or Shawna if you would like a more information.
