Program Manager – Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention

The Hastings and Prince Edward Counties Health Unit is looking for an experienced manager to fulfill a two year full time contract from August 3, 2010 to August 7, 2012.  This Non-Union Management position will report directly to the Director of Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention. The incumbent will manage an interdisciplinary team of nurses, health promoters, and enforcement officers and be responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating a number of assigned Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention programs to meet the requirements of the Ontario Public Health Standards 2008 and the enhanced Smoke Free Ontario Strategy.  These programs include both community health promotion and legislative enforcement initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Post secondary degree in a public health related discipline, a Masters degree is an asset. 5 years proven, progressive management experience including full staff and budgetary authority. Demonstrated ability to manage complex programs in a health related environment.  Proven ability to interpret, apply and enforce government regulations and deal with conflict. Strong negotiation, mediation and staff development skills.   Management experience in a unionized environment an asset.  A strong track record of achieving service goals within budgetary restraints.

The Health Unit provides a salary range of $82,345 to $97,154.
