Manager, Community Health - Peterborough County-City Health Unit

The Peterborough County-City Health Unit (PCCHU) has an exciting opportunity for a Manager to join our dynamic management team.   Peterborough is located just over an hour north-east of Toronto, in the heart of the Kawartha Tourism Region, offering a wide variety of culture, arts and recreation opportunities.  It is an affordable and safe community with quality schools, including a community college and university.  The Peterborough County-City Health Unit is a progressive, mid-size health unit which has established itself as a leader within the community and provincially.

Responsibilities:

·         Provides leadership in the effective planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of assigned programs, services, and projects in keeping with the requirements, standards, protocols, and guidelines of the Health Protection and Promotion Act (HPPA) and local needs identified by the Board of Health.

 

Qualifications

·         Graduate degree in a health, human service, management or discipline directly applicable to the practice of public health; or demonstrated equivalent experience in combination with a four year bachelor’s degree in health, human service, or related discipline

·         Five years experience in public health practice and supervisory experience in a professional setting

·         Ability to respond 24/7 for public health emergencies

·         Membership in professional association (preferred)

·         Current Certificate of Competence (for Regulated Health Professionals)

·         Current knowledge and skills in area(s) of assigned responsibility

·         Excellent leadership, management, supervisory and team-building skills;

·         Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills;

·         Ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation, research, and other relevant information

·         Knowledge of Incident Management System

·         Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team

·         Ability to adapt to new, different, or changing requirements

·         Ability to organize workload

·         Access to reliable transportation

·         Satisfactory criminal reference check

·         Completion of immunizations as outlined in PCCHU policies
