Established in 1994, Active Healthy Kids Canada strives to be a trusted source for powering the movement to get kids moving—a ‘go to’ source for knowledge, insight and understanding that influences thinking and action among issue stakeholders to help them build better programs, campaigns and policies in order to increase physical activity among children and youth. In an ongoing effort to advance knowledge to effect change, they release the annual Active Healthy Kids Canada Report Card on Physical Activity for Children and Youth, a comprehensive assessment of the current state of physical activity among Canadian children and youth.
Active Healthy Kids Canada relies on multiple partnerships in the public and private sector to execute all aspects of its work, and welcomes ongoing opportunities for partnership. In particular, it is striving to grow more effective networks at the provincial-territorial level, further linking to the municipal level through these networks.
Active Healthy Kids Canada has a diverse set of funding partners in the government, philanthropic and private sector.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is responsible for the effective operation and growth of the organization. The CEO is accountable to the Board of Directors for the development, implementation and execution of current and long-range objectives, the operating plans and policies, and the establishment of controls for operating efficiency. As an ambassador for the organization the CEO will continue to raise awareness for the mission, while they further develop external partnerships and networks. The CEO will focus on the commitment of Active Healthy Kids Canada to be a self sustaining organization, through partnerships, sponsorship, and fundraising.
As the ideal candidate, you are a consummate relationship builder and maintainer, and comfortable acting as the spokesperson for the organization. You possess a passion for Active Healthy Kids Canada’s mission and are eager to build the organization’s profile and philanthropic revenue. You are a big picture thinker who is highly strategic, action-oriented, self-motivated and self- sufficient. You are collaborative and have demonstrable management experience and a track record of managing a not-for-profit organization. The new CEO has the option of being located in Toronto or Ottawa.
