Salary Range: $31.33 - $39.17 per hour is a new web site that has been developed to engage the Ontario public about health policy issues. Every week a new story is posted on the site. is based at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute of St. Michael’s Hospital. In the near future, will launch a blog platform hosting individual opinion pieces on health care and health policy issues.

An important second target audience of other than the public is students training to be health professionals (nurses, doctors, physiotherapists, health administration, etc) and practitioners within the system.

The next stages in the evolution of include:

  • actively engaging with key public opinion leaders to inform them about, in order to increase traffic and engagement on
  • striking partnerships with key media outlets and influencers which will increase awareness of the site and its content
  • developing linkages with training programmes for health professionals as well as practicing health professionals
  • developing a detailed framework by which the impact of will be evaluated, development of metrics for that framework, and beginning to collect data to populate the metrics
  • launching a blog and opinion section on
  • obtaining longer-term funding

We are seeking an individual to join the team for one year to push forward the agenda described above.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • establishing and managing the blog and opinion section
  • increasing awareness of by face-to-face and electronic interactions with numerous public stakeholders,
  • help develop partnerships with other groups such as the conventional media, web-based media, and others,
  • expanding social media use, reaching online influencers and driving traffic to
  • developing linkages with training programmes for health professionals and practicing health professionals
  • drafting documents describing, targeting the different audiences described above
  • drafting funding requests that can be sent to granting agencies and philanthropists requesting funding for the site
  • developing a framework and metrics with which to evaluate, and starting to collecting the required information
  • drafting occasional stories for


  • working knowledge of Canada’s health care system
  • experience with knowledge translation and with “conventional” media
  • comfortable with social media tools and platforms
  • experience writing grants
  • Masters degree in health care or journalism
  • excellent writer
  • excellent verbal skills and maturity needed to interact with key opinion leaders
